Training Philosophy

In order for training to succeed it should be fun. So what is training? Training is teaching. Teaching implies shared experiences and goals between the human and their pets.
Our success is easily explained:

• We focus on the positive, pure and simple.
• We make learning fun for our animals and remove the focus of the "wrong behavior".

When asked," What do you do when an animal refuses to perform a behavior?" Our answer is, "We do nothing." This has been proven to be the most effective way of decreasing inappropriate behaviors while at the same time increasing the appropriate behaviors.

We have four phases to our teaching session:

• Dog Psychology
• Learning
• Proofing
• Corrective

Before we start giving your dog sounds to learn.... (Sit, down, stay etc.) We teach you to talk and to listen more effectively to your dog. We do this by helping you understand the wonderful world of "Dog Psychology"! We feel this will give you the skills to understand your dog. How great is that!!!

The staff at Smartcritters has come from a wide variety of experiences and has appeared on many programs including Good Morning Atlanta, CNN, and the Cartoon Network. We travel throughout the southeast giving lectures and demos on obedience training, freestyle Frisbee and Toss and Fetch.

Training Programs

Private Lessons

We will design a program that meets your personal goals for your dog. This training program allows us to work in the environments that you choose. We deal with your dogs behavioral issues in each environment that you are working in and we train you to train your dog in basic and advance obedience.

Board Training

This training program is designed as a jump start to your personalized training program. We do not have a kennel instead your canine companions will spend time in one of our trainer's home focusing on basic or advance obedience, house manners, and behavioral issues. When we feel we have accomplished your goals for you canine friend we will bring your pup home to test the new skills in your home environment. Once the canine comes home we provide private lessons to teach you how to maintain the new behaviors.

We can also design a group class for organizations, home owners associations or after school programs.

The ForceFree Method™ is an intuitive system of training that makes sense to both people and dogs. Effective and gentile, the training method works WITH the dogs instincts rather than against them. We achieve off leash reliability, even with distractions, amazingly fast. Most dogs percieve the training as simple "pack cooperation" and play. Therefore, they quickly shed rebellious behavior, and give you more focus than you imagined possible. Doesn't that sound like more fun than correction after correction?
